First Local Launch A Success

Thank you to everyone who attended the launch of Soilcrates: Living Lab here in Cross Village on Saturday. It was a wonderfully informative event.

Thank you to Laura Foley for her expertise; to Margaret Cotter, our chairperson in Loop Head Together CLG for her opening address, to Lena Madden from TUS for her educational presentation, to James O Donnell, Dairy Farmer, for his excellent and very practical description of his own soil health case study and to Agri Advisor Damian Coyne for his informative presentation and genuine support of the project.

Thank you to both the IFA and the ICMSA for their representation at the event and to all the farmers who turned out from the Loop Head Peninsula, Doonbeg, Cooraclare, North Clare, East Clare, Ennis and beyond. Thank you also to those members of the community also interested in soil health who turned up to follow the project.

Huge thanks to Teresa O Gorman and all at Kilballyowen Development for the use of the Cross Community Digital Hub which is a first class facility; everyone in attendance was hugely impressed by it.

WHAT NOW?

The next step will be to bring those farmers interested in actively participating together once more to discuss what each farmer feels their soil challenges are, and to explore what projects / trials would be suitable to address these challenges.

If you would like to follow along the progress of the project, drop us an email to loopheadtogether@gmail.com and we will add you to our updates.
